Samie pursued his way into filmmaking, starting as an actor in New York. On his way back to London from his training, he started to pick up small roles in the U.K.
It was only after having the opportunity to work with, and shadow, one of Britain’s most accomplished working directors, Joe Wright (Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, Anna Karina) did Samie start going full time into the writing and directing craft. Starting off as a writer, Joe Wright recommended his school, Central Saint Martins, where he gained a masters and directed casts from Drama Centre London (Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender). Samie’s first short film, “A Year”, garnered huge acclaim in the UK and American festival circuits.
Under anticipation from many to make a debut feature, Samie has made a 10- minute short for development of a feature he is working on. A true story, pulling elements from his life, touches the gnarly yet fastest growing sport in the world, MMA.
