About the Filmmaker

Spencer’s yearning to create engaging and visually compelling films can be traced back to watching STAR WARS at age 8. From that moment, he has been destined to make movies that have fantastical, dream-like qualities; sharing his ideas with anyone who will watch, and carrying a positive outlook of the world along the way.
Director’s Statement
LIFE INSIDE THE SEED blends Florida’s Big Bend geography with slice-of-life scenes and some wonderfully surreal moments as we traverse one day in the capital city. It is equally inspired by KOYAANISQATSI, WHY MAN CREATES, and Looney Tunes.
This film represents the first big film I have ever made since gaining interest in filmmaking over 30 years ago. LIFE INSIDE THE SEED is also the first script I’ve ever written for a movie; every film I made prior was born out of storyboards, notes on paper, and any other thoughts I could keep in my head. My previous short films relied heavily on visuals and music, and, even though there is not much dialogue in this picture, it is the most I have ever written for a film.
The entire production was a community effort, with everyone volunteering their time and talent to bring it to life: there were no paid roles, cast or crew, on this movie. Even the original score, Steve Leacock’s first, was voluntarily crafted.
