The Tallahassee Film Festival champions bold, exceptional, and delightfully unexpected filmmaking. We believe cinema is a transformative art form, one that can shift perspectives, ignite conversations, and strengthen communities. That’s why we treat our selected filmmakers not just as participants, but as artists with vital stories to tell. The Festival is intentionally crafted as a welcoming, creative space where filmmakers and audiences come together to share work, exchange ideas, and celebrate the power of film.

Since launching our inaugural event in May 2008, the Tallahassee Film Festival has brought groundbreaking films and visionary filmmakers to Florida’s Capital City. We’ve showcased early work by artists who would go on to become Oscar nominees and winners — including Denis Villeneuve, Barry Jenkins, and Bong Joon-Ho — long before their names were etched into film history. Our screens have premiered films from around the globe and from many of the world’s most prestigious festivals.

Over the years, the Festival has grown into an international gathering point and a place where filmmakers network, collaborate, celebrate, and connect with audiences who truly love cinema. Through this work, we aim to enrich the cultural, economic, and social vitality of Tallahassee by presenting a vibrant, inclusive celebration of the arts that resonates far beyond the theater walls.
