The Tallahassee Film Festival partners with the Challenger Learning Center for a “Wild” Family Event

February 17th, 2011

Keeping with this year’s “Something Wild” theme, The Tallahassee Film Festival is pleased to announce a partnership with the IMAX Challenger Learning Center. Together, the two organizations are presenting a “wild” opportunity for families across Tallahassee to experience the new film Born To Be Wild 3D.

TFF “All Access” Pass holders will get the additional benefit of the new film for only $6 ($2 savings) from April 8-10 at the IMAX Challenger Learning Center. Each moviegoer will also receive a free 32 oz. popcorn to enjoy during the show. This is a wonderful chance to spend quality family time and expose children to film – all at an affordable price!

Narrated by Academy-Award® winner Morgan Freeman, Born to be Wild 3D is directed by David Lickley and written and produced by Drew Fellman. This Warner Bros. film will open nationwide on April 8, 2011 exclusively in IMAX theatres.

Born to be Wild 3D documents orphaned orangutans and elephants and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them—saving endangered species one life at a time. It is a heartwarming adventure transporting moviegoers into the lush rainforests of Borneo and across the rugged Kenyan savannah, as these incredible animals are rescued, rehabilitated and returned back to the wild.

TFF will also be giving away 15 tickets to a special advanced screening of Born to be Wild 3D on Facebook and Twitter.  Be among the first to see this wonderful film!   For a chance to win tickets, All-Access Passes and other prizes, “like” us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/TallahasseeFilmFestival and “follow” us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/tallyfilmfest.

TFF Announces theme for 2011 Film Festival

October 24th, 2010

TFF will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the action comedy, Something Wild, starring Melanie Griffith and Jeff Daniels. The movie was filmed in the Capital City and the TFF is recreating this excitement for its 2011 festival with a Something Wild theme.

The film Something Wild takes viewers back to old Tallahassee. Extras in the film include many Tallahassee residents and even a few local celebrities, like Tallahassee poet David Kirby. Something Wild captures the quaint charm of our community with scenes filmed in mom-and-pop spots, many of which are not around any longer.

The Tallahassee Film Festival plans to honor the film with its festival theme and events. The film festival committee is hoping to invite cast and crew of Something Wild, hosting seminars and panel discussions in conjunction with a special screening of the film.

The festival will be held April 6 – 10, 2011.

Location Scouting Bus Tour Aimed at Industry Professionals to Debut during 2011 Tallahassee Film Festival

October 24th, 2010

Preparations are under way for the 4th annual Tallahassee Film Festival, April 6-10, 2011. Over the past 3 years, the festival has established itself as an influential catalyst for film, television, and music production within the Big Bend area. With 7,185 attendees and more than 200 films shown, the Tallahassee Film Festival appeals to a large audience while promoting education and economic opportunities.

The 2011 festival will include staples such as the filmmaker Q&A sessions, VIP parties and the 48-hour film contest, but as part of the “Something Wild” theme, the TFF committee will add a new component specifically for industry professionals.

As part of the 2011 events, the Tallahassee Film Festival will debut a location-scouting bus tour specifically for industry professionals who are in town for the festivities. With so many filmmakers, directors, and producers in town, the TFF committee wants to introduce them to the beautiful locations in and around Tallahassee. The goal is to woo these professionals back to the area and keep the Big Bend region top of mind! If we succeed, this could be a huge economic driver in our community.

But, we need the community’s help to find the top, can’t be missed locations in the Big Bend region and that’s where your publication comes in. We would love to have feature articles about this effort appear in as many papers in the area as possible. We want to encourage the community to get involved in selecting the bus tour stops, posting pictures and comments on our Facebook Page or replying to our Twitter profile.
