Letter From TFF Chairs

Dear Cinephiles & Film Enthusiasts:

We are delighted to welcome you to the 3rd Annual Tallahassee Film Festival! We received more than 200 films from independent filmmakers worldwide, and are pleased to present a wide selection of over 70 films during our four-day festival.

With a large collection of narrative and documentary films on a myriad of topics, daily filmmaking panels and workshops, and nightly after parties, TFF truly has something for everyone. We are presenting quality works by emerging filmmakers, Academy Award®-nominated films, and a number of premieres. Many films will be exhibited in HD, and we are especially pleased to announce the addition of the Regal Miracle 5 Theater as one of our festival screening venues, where we will kick off the festival with a special advance screening of That Evening Sun followed by the Opening Night Party at Hotel Duval. We have also organized family friendly events to help cultivate a love of film in our younger audiences. TFF Under the Stars is pleased to present Galaxy Quest on Kleman Plaza on Friday evening, and the Children’s Collection on Saturday morning featuring the Oscar® nominated animated film The Secret of Kells.

All of this and more could not have been accomplished without the commitment, passion, and fierce determination of our volunteers. Our festival is run entirely by a staff of volunteers who have dedicated countless hours these last 12 months with the sole purpose of bringing the best of independent filmmaking to the Big Bend community. An extra special thank you goes out to each and every one of our volunteers.

We would also like to thank our Board of Directors for their vision and willingness to guide our nascent festival. We could not have done this without our film and education partnerships including the Governor’s Office of Film & Entertainment, FSU Film School, The Torchlight Film Program, Regal Miracle 5, the Tallahassee Film Society, FSU’s Student Life Cinema, FAMU’s School of Journalism & Graphic Communication, and Tallahassee Community College.

And finally, we are ever appreciative of the support and generosity from all of our sponsors. We would like to thank the Knight Foundation for their foresight to create this film festival through the Knight Creative Communities Initiative in 2007, and we are deeply grateful to our Presenting Sponsor, Florida Commerce Credit Union, who has believed in the festival since the beginning and helped turn a shared vision into reality.

See you in the Dark!
